On the spot, with spot UV

Here's a really interesting sample from Luice Design. It's one of their latest Spot UV printed business cards.

What's awesome is the use of the smoke in the design. The hookah was given a subtle black tone and covered in UV gloss to stand out on the card. A brilliant and simple way to transform what would otherwise be a plain, flat business card into a multi-dimensional piece of awesome.

Get some wood in your life

These guys have been customers for a while and finally decided they needed to give their business cards a face lift. Well it didn't really take too much plastic surgery for the designers to come up with something totally awesome. A little full color foil business card perhaps? I think so!

Bam! New cards, totally new image. Happy customer.

Bing!

Holy poly-plastic, batman!

Luice Design's got more new stuff in their arsenal! It doesn't stop, this summer!

I'm posting this photo from Luice Design's studio to show you just what you can do with metal business cards.

Most people have only ever seen the Luice Design sample dog-tag metal card....well here's another stunning example of what these cards can do for you. This time, a razor blade shape for a sleek and stylish graphic designer.

This metal card goes perfect with a die-cut option and as you can see...they can do any shape you want!

Don’t forget about our magnets!

I've talked about the awesomeness that is magnetic business cards before. I simply don't want you to forget about it!

So here you can see several options of the magnet option offered by design geniuses at the Luice Design studios.\

It's a pretty simple concept, but a damn good effective one. I know I myself am I always happy to take home a free magnet. Even if its advertising something I never or hardly ever use. I have all sorts of random crap on my fridge and I need magnets to hold them up. Who knows? Maybe one day I'll see the number of a plumber or an electrician and decide to give them a call for service! All thanks to that free magnet I got years ago!

She wore blueeeee….velvet

August 5th, 2010

That's a line from the theme song from one of my favorite movies ever. The creepy, suspenseful drama from David Lynch, Blue Velvet! Such a fantastic film.

That really has nothing to do with this post...except for the fact that this new product I'm talking about is called, Velvet Business Cards. It's a new summer for Luice Design and they've been rolling out all sorts of awesome new printing options for your marketing and design needs.

These babies are smooth, but not too smooth. Quite different from silk business cards. It's a truly extraordinary material and I'm sure you and your customers will rub it in your hands for hours! When I got this sample in, I couldn't stop! It's kinda crazy.

A classic example of a business card makeover

July 30th, 2010

You know those reality TV shows where they give someone a makeover, or their house or their salon or their restaurant or their tattoo....a total makeover?

Well, I propose they do a show like that but with graphic design! Here's Luice Design again with a classic example of someone who could be on that show!

Look at this poor excuse for a business card!

Luice-Design-business-cards-makeover-before-leather-classic

I mean...it's really bad! Look at how it's bent. It's in black and white. The font's all wrong and kinda screwed up. The design is just abysmal...I wouldn't even call it design. Nothing is good with this card. Now look what Luice Design did. They took this card and gave it a complete makeover.

It's so exciting!

This is a 16pt business card with Spot UV. I mean...hello? BEEEautiful!

So if you've got a business card like this for yourself...stop kidding around and get your butt to Luice Design like, right now! Yesterday!

How do you tell the difference between the two?

July 29th, 2010

whats-the-difference-foil-business-card-Luice-Design

Here we have a foil business card!

whats-the-difference-foil-metallic-business-card-Luice-Design

And here...a metallic business card.

Both cards are the same design with two very different printing options. I often get asked about difference between these two, so I thought I'd do a little show and tell.

Both use silver to create the resulting effect. Foil process uses silver color added to the four color mix. It creates a shiny effect that's different from the standard UV. It's like a reflection of the colors, that almost reminds me of an old-school hologram baseball/basketball card.

Metallic business cards also use silver, but mixed in with the color to create a sparkle in the color itself giving it "metallic" look. Both can be applied to the entire card or used in sections.

I've seen awesome business cards with swirls done with foil and metallic. Both are really good options. You just kinda have to see for yourself!
